- Herbert M. (Skip) Cole (scole{at}arthistory.ucsb.edu) is Professor Emeritus at UC Santa Barbara, where he taught African art history for thirty-five years. He is author, co-author or editor of twelve books and 60+ essays/articles, from research in five African nations. Cole has curated 13 exhibitions, several involving collaborations with students. In 2001, he received an ACASA Leadership Award. His next-to-latest book is Maternity: Mothers and Children in African Art, 2017. His latest is Akua’ba Asante; Wednesday Child, with Ron van Doorn, 2021.
